Videohub File Generator

Blackmagic Videohub 40x40 · runs entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded
How to use this — fill the table, make the files, load the Videohub

A · Fill in the table (in Lucid, or right here)

  1. IN LABEL: name each source feeding the router (what is on that input). Max 12 characters, keep each name unique. Leave unused inputs as IN 15 etc.
  2. FROM (PATCH): where that input is cabled from (for example AQ 1.1). Notes for the tech only; it does not go to the router.
  3. OUT LABEL: name each destination (what that output feeds). Max 12 characters, unique. Leave unused outputs as OUT 15 etc.
  4. XPT: the input number (1–40) that this output should take. Blank = leave that output unchanged. ROUTED SOURCE is only a reading aid, so it can be left blank; this page works it out from XPT.
  5. Rows are ports: row 05 on the left is input 5, row 05 on the right is output 5. They are separate, not connected to each other.

B · Make the files

  1. In Lucid select the table cells, copy, then press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) on this page. Or open the link someone sent you and the table is already loaded.
  2. Fix anything marked ERROR (red) before downloading. Warnings are advice only. Edit directly in the grid if something is wrong; the preview shows exactly what the router will do.
  3. Click Download videohub_load.txt (this is the file that loads the router) and the CSV if you want a copy of the table.

C · Load it onto the Videohub

Loading replaces the labels and routes on the unit. Write down or screenshot what is on it now, and try the file on a bench unit before show day.

  1. Easiest: put your computer on the same network as the Videohub and run the small helper script (needs Python 3): python3 videohub_push.py videohub_load.txt 192.168.x.x using the Videohub's IP address. You should see three lines ending in ACK. Download videohub_push.py
  2. Without the script: use the Route preview below as a checklist. In Blackmagic's Videohub Setup utility type the input and output labels, then set the routes with Videohub Control, the front panel or your control panel. (Menu names can differ between software versions.)
  3. After loading, spot-check three or four outputs on a monitor. Compare with the preview.

1 · Load the table

Copy the router table in Lucid, then press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) anywhere on this page.
Also accepts the Videohub CSV. A link from someone else loads automatically.
Paste didn't work? Paste text here instead

2 · Check & edit

Edit any IN LABEL, OUT LABEL or XPT (the input number each output should take). Everything updates and the downloads follow what you see here. Blank XPT = leave that output alone.

3 · Route preview (what the Videohub will do)

4 · Get the files

Load the .txt on the Videohub by TCP 9990 (send it line by line), or enter the labels and routes in Videohub Setup using the preview above.

Copy back into Lucid

Copies the current table (with ROUTED SOURCE filled in) in the same format a spreadsheet uses, so Lucid can paste it into its table cells. In Lucid, click once inside the first cell under the header (the one that says ▶ IN 01), then paste. Check the first and last rows afterwards. If Lucid drops loose text boxes instead of filling cells, undo (Ctrl+Z) and type the values directly in the table.
